When children enroll at Mustard Seed, they take an assessment test which Mustard Seed uses to identify areas of needed improvement and write a specific plan to address those needs. There is no charge for the test and after the child completes it, center staff will call parents within two business days with the results. If the child qualifies for service, staff will offer one or more of the following programs. Scholarships are available for families that are not able to afford the prices listed.

Seminars

Mustard Seed's Seminar program offers children assistance twice a week in a small-group setting. The Seminars focus on content needs that most children need.

One-on-one Tutoring

The one-on-one program offers remedial services to kindergarten through twelfth students that are significantly behind in their academics. Because of this, tutors do not normally help students with homework in the one-on-one program, but instead use the center’s resources to address student needs. Children typically come once or twice each week and work with the same tutor each time.

Homework Assistance

The homework assistance program provides small group homework support. The tutors assist the children on individual questions, but are not in a position to offer instruction, so students in need of more rigorous help are better suited for the one-on-one program.

Story Time

This program is for children that are five or six years old. The students meet once per week in a group, where they listen to stories and begin to learn rudimentary reading comprehension skills.
